Why Ownership House is being built
We shape culture. We should own the platforms that document it.
Black communities have always created stories, businesses, movements, music, ideas, and culture that influence the world.
Too often, however, we do not own the platforms, archives, distribution systems, or audience relationships that benefit from what we create. Ownership House is being built to help change that.
We are creating an independent Black-owned media company where our stories can be documented, achievements can be recognized, opportunities can be shared, and the relationship with our audience can remain in our control.
A publication, an archive, and an institution
Ownership House will cover the people, ideas, businesses, culture, and institutions shaping our future. The work will include original reporting, interviews, profiles, video, audio, newsletters, and practical resources.
Social networks will help distribute that work, but they are not the core product. OwnershipHouse.com is being built as the authoritative home for the archive and the direct relationship with readers.
Useful media, built on trust
We intend to be clear about ownership, funding, corrections, sponsorship, and the standards behind our reporting. Revenue must support the mission without allowing sponsors to control editorial coverage.
This is the beginning. We are listening for the people, businesses, opportunities, and community stories that should be documented first.
Our stories. Our assets. Our future.
